doves peaceIt was really a super day in the tradition of Samui Mala's peace days celebrated on Samui on September 21 since 2007.connect peace 1 connect peace 2 peace connection samui mala peace doves  connect peace 4  connect yogaPeople connected.... reconnected with old friends.... and peace prevailed.
peace connectionIt was a gorgeous sunny day on Koh Samui, there was music, a green market, explorations in yoga and healing.

Dorra Lemanczyk made a speech for peace and released her beautiful homing pigeons, and we planted a tree for peace.

We joined Avaaz and hundreds of thousands of others around the world to dedicate peaceful intentions to each other and to the planet  to mobilize the world to shift to 100% clean energy.
We signed interested people up to create a recycling group that can share resources.

Thanks to our generous sponsors and host we raised over B66,000 of which we will donate a portion to Avaaz, but the lion's share goes towards helping Wat Santiwaram temple school create a healthy eating program for their young students, and we hope to be able to help them set up a vegetable garden to supplement their breakfast club.

Proceeds from this day of peace were raised towards the Tongkrut School breakfast program - giving kids a healthy start to the day.

2015 update on the funds: Samui Mala contributed to the school breakfast program, bought Ukuleles for the children's musical education and hosted visiting musicians Pablo and Sajona in February to visit the school, but since the volunteers who were running the program at Tongkrut school had to move to another school, we were unable to follow up on this program. The remaining funds were disbursed equally to The Burmese Learning Centre in Kuraburi and to We help Nepal - a fundraiser for the victims of the Nepali earthquake.

This day of peace is generously hosted by Vikasa and run by volunteers.
