"Healing Ourselves ...Healing Our World" - A Healing Forum at Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa.
At previous Mala events we have offered either healing treatments or workshops. This year we have planned a special day for people interested in healing and well being whether involved in the wellness and spa industry on Samui or individuals wanting to share-- a special day event titled "Healing ourselves...Healing our world: A conversation among friends". Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa has kindly offered to host this discussion.
We would like you to be part of it and come as our guest to enjoy a lively day of activities and discussion around this theme.
There is no charge for the event. Please RSVP by just sending the names of people in your party to Gaby Gubler at marketing@kamalaya.com or call Margaret Rankin at 081 271 3465. and feel free to bring your partner and staff/friends.
The format of the day has been drawn up to take into account the diversity of our audience who will be drawn from the working community of healers on Samui as well as individuals interested in Wellness.
- 3:00 "Power of Place" - Designing/Building
a Wellness Center in Harmony with Nature...Kamalaya, A Case Study (Rob
Powell architect to lead) Join us for a walkabout discussion about the
‘Powerof Place’ and its role in wellbeing.
Everyone interested in the healing/wellness field knows the importance of nature on the healing process. The question we face is how to design a quality environment whether it be a garden, home or business that takes into account budgets, regulations, landscape features, alternative technology and the least amount of disturbance to nature. To look at the natural features of any site and integrate and enhance your design using nature will be the theme of this case study of Kamalaya by architect and artist Rob Powell. Walking the Kamalaya site with Rob, we will also answer your specific questions about building, landscaping and design in a way that honors and complements the natural environment. Whether you are interested in healing, permaculture or living naturally this program will be a must. - 4:30+ "Healing Art" -Refreshments with Samui Mala artists in the Kamalaya gallery addressing their work A cross section of Samui artists, photographers and sculptors working and living on the island will be represented. The show will be hosted by Kamalaya until December to support local art. Come and see the diversity of visual expression and support and meet our island artists.
- 5:15 pm "Spirit Sounds and Music"
- 5:45 pm "Healing Ourselves - Healing Our World" Some
very short presentations by a diversity of pioneers in the wellness
industry on Samui as well as some more recently established healers,
and some challenges from visiting practitioners to examine the idea of
whether this is a healing Island or an island in need of healing.

- 8:00 "A conversation among friends"- Healers forum
and panel discussion with Q & A on challenges brought up by
speeches.
We would like you to share your comments and ideas in order to construct a foundation for CHANGE!
Some ideas we may like to discuss:
What is holistic healing if it doesn't take the entire environment into account? How do we as healers, seekers, travelers on the path to wisdom explore our relationship with the rest of the island, and the planet? We are on an island, which makes us special, and vulnerable, and especially since our Samui Mala is concerned with sustainability, regeneration and the implied threat of collapse. This is a unique opportunity to come together in gratitude and recognition of what we have, and to explore how to create a sustainable or regenerative approach to genuine holistic well being.
Please come and join in with us… even if you do not want to make public comments it is important that we all share together and heal as part of our living and working on Samui. Please RSVP to Kamalaya and feel free to bring your partner and staff/friends. After the discussion there will be more music and time to network with friends and visitors.
And there’s more...Instead of just an annual event, we would love to see continuity in our network of friends in a living mala that continues beyond the festival week.
- We hope you will donate a book you have read so we can create a healing library for use of anyone on Samui and located at Junes Bophut Cafe cafe About Art and Craft. So grab a book and your thoughts on the themes below and we hope to see you there!
- We’d also like to explore the idea of create a continuing forum with films, talks or meditation to practice gratitude and remind ourselves of our connections as a community, rather than just flotsam and jetsam on the shore.
- We want to create a website for locals and visitors to Samui including a directory of healing and the diversity on offer: music, art, services, healing, nurturing, bliss. The idea is that anyone part of the Samui Mala shares the same ideas about sustainable living on Samui. This could include a blog and a noticeboard as well as reviews. Bring along ideas on how you can contribute or benefit from this virtual community.
Thank you and please remember to let us know you are coming by contacting Gaby Gubler at marketing@kamalaya.com or call Margaret Rankin at 081 271 3465. and feel free to bring your partner and staff/friends. There is no charge for this event but if you can, please bring a book for the Samui Healing Library to share.
